History

The heartbeat of Spirit of St.Louis Church (SOS) began as a Life Group in the Living Room of Lead Pastor Tom and Darla Skiles’ home, along with 7 other people. From the Beginning SOS set out to be a Life Group Church. It is a vision directly connected to Jesus and His ministry that was started over 2000 years ago. You can’t understand the history of SOS with out knowing the history of Jesus. He gave us the blueprint. Jesus showed us the example of what a church should be. He walked the earth connecting with people, loving and accepting all He met, having dinner with them and building an effective team.

After outgrowing a living room, SOS then moved to the library of Lindbergh High School. We were there for a short time but for a reason and a purpose. SOS then transitioned from Lindbergh to another church’s multipurpose facility. There we met on Saturday nights and continued to build a solid team of believers. Sharing our strengths and weaknesses and celebrating our God given talents and abilities.

Spirit of St. Louis Church launched it’s first public service with a team of 50 people at the Simpson Elementary School in Arnold, October of 2007 and has since grown exponentially. SOS began with one service. After the first year a second service was launched and we haven’t looked back.

The dream is to build a bridge into the community and to help people who are far from God connect to HIM. The strength of SOS is in the Christ centered relationships. The battle cry is “No Perfect People”. The plan is to “come as you are but don’t stay that way” on your journey towards Christ. The goal is personal life change that only God can orchestrate. The win is becoming the best version of you in Christ, that you can be and help others do the same. That is the message that SOS brings.

SOS isn’t defined by one denomination. The ministry of SOS isn’t only carried out by the pastor. The identity of SOS isn’t contained or confined to a building. We have worked hard to teach others that the people are the church, not the building. Who knows what facility we will be occupying next.

The movement of SOS is inspired by an amazing team. The SOS team is greater than any one team member. We are inspired by life change. If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, then don’t wait! Come and be a part of SOS HISTORY.
